ANSWER: No. Spirit Level is a design consultant firm only. We do not purchase materials or equipment, hire contractors or perform any physical work on site.
FAQ: Are you a licensed and insured?
ANSWER: No. As a design consultant, we are not required to be licensed or carry insurance in the way an Engineer or Contractor would. The design drawings we provide are up to code, including ADA requirements. In the event that an engineer stamp is required for a drawing set, we have relationships with structural engineers and can have the plans reviewed and stamped as needed.
FAQ: What contractors and suppliers do you use in your budget?
ANSWER: We prefer to work with local businesses as much as possible, while keeping an eye on the bottom line. If a customer has worked with a contractor in the past and would like to use them again, that is perfect as the contractor will be familiar with the property.
If requested to provide a budget and schedule on a project, they will be prepared is based on a number of factors; your specific involvement in the project, existing condition of construction in the project area, existing materials and finishes, and the proposed work and materials to be used. In addition to the documentation provided in the above Services, you will receive copies of all estimates and quotes related to the project for their use and reference as the project moves forward.
It is also important to remember that the cost of materials can fluctuate and most materials quotes will only be valid for 15-30 days. Contractor quotes can also vary over time so any quote or estimate that is older than three months should be reviewed and the budget adjusted accordingly.
